TBIA and Informa Market Host Seminar on Bioplastics and Applications

On May 17, 2024, the Thai Bioplastics Industry Association (TBIA) in collaboration with Informa Market, hosted a seminar titled “Bioplastics and Their Applications” at the PLASTIC & RUBBER THAILAND 2024 event. Dr. Jetasuda Jirawutivongchai and Dr. Siwarat Boonyaratglin from Siam Modified Starch Co., Ltd. had the honor of discussing the topic “Lowering Plastic’s Carbon Footprint with TAPIOPLAST – the Biogenic Carbon Masterbatch Resin.”

During the seminar, both speakers emphasized the benefits of utilizing tapioca starch in the plastic manufacturing industry. They highlighted that SMS’s Thermoplastic Starch (TPS) can significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions through the Carbon Sink principle. Additionally, TPS is biodegradable and offers a cost-effective solution. The adoption of TPS not only promotes a circular economy but also supports global sustainability goals by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing environmental impact.
